Superintendent’s Message ….

IT”S YOUR CLUB! Please remember there are only three workers to maintain the course. We try to get our work accomplished with as little disruption to play as possible. Sometimes however, we are limited by the weather. This past season was very wet; consequently we were working on the course when we normally would not have. We apologize if our work is disruptive and hopefully this season will have more sunny days.

We only have two complaints with the members and their course etiquette last season, the first being the increasing number of unrepaired ball marks on the greens and the other being glass bottles brought on to the course. Ball marks that are not immediately repaired are a great place for diseases which attack the greens to get a start plus they are a nuisance to your fellow golfer’s ability to putt. Please remember to repair your ball marks, remind fellow players to do the same, and if you are so inclined repair those you find. The glass bottles are a safety hazard as well as a problem for our equipment, especially the tires. Also, I will post information on the bulletin board in the club house concerning work party days and sign ups for volunteers.

Thanks, Chris

President’s Message….

It’s your club! First I would like to welcome all the new members to Glass Hill, enjoy! Our resident trainer, Bob LeBuis, will hold a training session at the Club in the near future (sign-ups and date in the club house). Next, I would like to commend Chris and his team (Butch and Jack) on the great job they do, the course looks great thanks to their hard work. Next I would like to thank Pat and Lorna for their hard work, it is under-appreciated. In addition I’d like to thank the volunteer Board of Directors; it takes a time commitment not everyone is willing to give. Glass Hill is not perfect for everyone, but when other courses are losing membership (hence raising dues and fees), we have enough members who appreciate what a great course they have. Speaking of our treasurer, PLEASE fill out the sign-in sheet completely (other members will complain you aren’t paying for your guest, cart, etc., seriously, I hear it every day). Also, fill out LEGIBLY the slip explaining what you are doing that day. The money needs to be stapled to your slip (not much good when nothing is written on it). As I’ve witnessed, Pat has to waste a lot of his time trying to figure out who, what, when, etc., please be considerate of others when signing in.

If you’re not aware the Club is “not for profit,” and the BOD works diligently to hold down costs while maintaining equipment, the course, and paying our employees a living wage. The leagues will be starting shortly, Men’s Tuesday afternoon, Ladies Wednesday morning and Couples Thursday evening (only a few holes are taken with this group). We have a few outings on weekends before Memorial Day and after Labor Day which generate income for Glass Hill. The only outings on a weekend between these dates are the Member/Guest and the Club Championship. Please communicate any suggestions, compliments and yes complaints, to your board or use the suggestion box in the club house. Remember to check the web site and bulletin board in the club house for course information. Enjoy your course!
